Invitation to Open House and a Job Well Done

Congratulations to Lindsey Hayden and Delaney Martin for participating in the Horizons program at Clarkson University this summer. This is a week long program at the campus. It is geared to girls who have an aptitude and interest in math and science or engineering.
Program Highlights From Clarkson
Although females have an aptitude equal to males in science and mathematics, few choose to pursue careers in these areas. Horizons hopes that encouragement at a pivotal age may make the difference. Horizons is intended to help young women understand the excitement of mathematics thereby encouraging them to choose courses in high school that will lead to college study in math-based disciplines. The Horizons curriculum uses an integrated instructional module for science, engineering and mathematics, and supports these through fun and challenging hands-on projects. The life skills component further enhances the instruction as participants build confidence, personal insight, and team spirit.

This was the first year for Delaney to attend and the second year for Lindsey. We are all proud that you were both accepted and participated in this challenging program.

Open House 2010

I would like to extend this invitation to you for the BKW Middle/ High School Grades 7-12 Open House on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. This is a valuable opportunity for you to meet with your child’s instructors; obtain first hand information about their courses, expectations and goals for the 2009-2010 school year. In addition, it will afford you the opportunity to begin to develop an open dialogue with the faculty that can evolve throughout the year.

As in the past, you will be following a modified schedule. The schedule will be available when you arrive in the lobby of the H.S. auditorium. During the program, the BKW Cheerleading Team will be providing supervised child care and the P.T.A will be serving refreshments.

I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you at the opening assembly.
